Historical Background

Jotindra Steel & Tubes Ltd - JST, is pioneer among Steel Tube manufacturers in India & was founded in the year 1967.

Jotindra is Currently among India's foremost manufacturers and exporters of Electric Resistance Welded steel tubes and pipes. Jotindra's reputation for impeccable quality and total reliability has been hard earned and the concomitant result of conscious effort and single-minded dedication and adherence to standards which has endured nearly 40 years in the Indian and international markets.

A motivated and fully-trained workforce, dedicated to continous quality improvements ensure that each pipe turned out in 90,000 MT annual productions is fit to bear the imprimatur of our organisation with pride. Our pipes are instantly recognised in the market by their unique tensile strength and dimensional uniformity. We take care that the elongation is sufficient for consummate bending without sacrificing in the least the strength and toughness of our pipes.

Our top drawer quality steel pipes are manufactured in mills that are fully automated to ensure highest quality and complete soundness. Total Quality Management practice is ingrained in the organisational structure. JST's mills has ISO 9001:2000 certification from Bureau Veritas and has on-line quality inspection designed and approved by Bureau Veritas.

Quality control is thus a continuous process and culminates in the integration of efforts directed at the development, maintainence and improvement of quality at each production level. We inspect each and every single pipe for pinholes and random checking of samples is conducted for accurate thickness, zinc coating, length etc., so that we are proud of each pipe which leaves our premises.

The techniques adopted in manufacturing and quality control include:
We use an Electric Resistance Welding procedure known as High Frequency Induction Welding which uses the parent metal to fuse the edges thus maintaining same chemistry in the final product with only a fractional change in grain structure. This is coupled with an online Seam Annealing system to uniformly balance the grain structure. Thermatool Welding ensures the integrity of the product.

Debeading is practised to be able to trim the internal bead of pipes in height to meet specific customer's requirements.

JST manufactures pipes meeting the following standards relevant to the product :
